LETTERPRESS TECHNICIAN
At XoWyo, we specialize in creating beautifully crafted stationery and event collateral that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design. We are looking for a Letterpress Technician to oversee all letterpress and die-cutting projects in our studio. This role combines hands-on presswork, technical problem-solving, and to help create unique invitations, menus, place cards, and other paper goods to life.
The ideal candidate has a foundation in letterpress printing, a strong understanding of print production, and the ability to manage equipment, supplies, and processes with precision. They should thrive in a collaborative environment, contribute to creative problem-solving, and balance attention to detail with the fast-paced nature of client-driven work.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise the production of letterpress and die-cutting projects using our Vandercook press.

Operate letterpress processes, including typesetting, inking, printing, and press maintenance.

Report project status updates to the Production Manager.

Assist with other in-house machinery and tools, such as laser cutters, printers, Accucut, die cutters, and industrial hydraulic cutters.

Support production assembly when needed (inserting liners, stamping, cutting cord, organizing lists, sorting, cutting paper, tying ribbon, folding).

Manage and maintain letterpress supplies, type cases, plates, tools, and equipment.

Ensure the studio remains clean, safe, and organized while following safety protocols.

Document processes and best practices through manuals, labels, and guides.

Troubleshoot minor mechanical and procedural issues.

Collaborate with the production and project teams to optimize workflow and final product quality.

Identify opportunities to improve and streamline current processes.

Research and propose new materials, products, and solutions to support XoWyo’s growth.

Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented studio environment.
Qualifications
-
Experience in print production, letterpress operation, and press processes.

Familiarity with letterpress terminology, tools, and techniques, including typesetting, inking, and maintenance.

Experience with equipment such as Accucut, Glowforge Laser, die cutters, hydraulic cutters, and xerox printers preferred.

Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop desired.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to catalog equipment and supplies.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Interest in art, design, or printmaking.

Availability to work scheduled shifts, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, in-person in Jackson, WY.

Self-starter attitude, with attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
